About Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists (OTs) are highly trained health professionals who assess a client's requirements for the home modifications needed. Their aim is to assist with ways to improve a client's independence which could involve a range of strategies depending on the needs of the client.

To make a holistic assessment, the Occupational Therapist will also liaise with family members, carers and other health professionals who are closely involved with the client. The OT will then liase with the HMMS builder to insure all modification work follows the OT's specifications and recommendations.

HMMS have established collaborative working partnerships with Occupational Therapists in NSW who can be found in the following settings:

  • Public and Private Hospitals
  • Private Practice
  • Rehabilitation Units
  • Community Health Centres
